Mabel Lake July 19-26, 2009

This was part of Deano's and his son Nolan's holidays at Mabel Lake Resort & Airpark, BC http://www.mabellakeresort.com/ - approx. 30km's east of Enderby, BC we have friends Larry & Brenda who have a place out at the resort and we were fortunate enough to be able to go out there and stay with them. We left late on Saturday July 18 and arrived at 5:30am Sunday July 19. Nolan and I went on a bunch of rides together up the mountains on logging roads, went up to the top of the mountain to the lookout point and as far as Frog Falls (3 Valley Gaps) privately owned and operated electric system - where Nolan had a little wipeout check out the video amd road rash, we put on approx. 575km on Nolan's dirt bike - a Kawasaki KX250F and Deano borrowed his brothers Yamaha Rubicon 600 Quad, there were unfortunately some forest fires right near Kelowna and people had to be evacuated but no fires near us but we did smell the smoke for a few days, there was a couple of days that the weather for a few hours turned nasty, the winds came up and the water had whitescaps - a lot of the people there had said this was the worst they had seen at Mabel Lake, check out the boat that sunk - it was moored but the water came over the boat and she went down other than that it was a great holiday - I got to hang out with my son and we had some good times - NOLAN - I AM VERY PROUD OF YOU - we came home on Sunday July 26, Nolan left again though July 31 - August 7 to go back to Mabel Lake to hang out with his buddies.

Alberta Cancer Foundation’s The Underwear Affair June 6, 2009

June 6, 2009 Edge Entertainment was honored to be a part of this great cause "Alberta Cancer Foundation’s The Underwear Affair" we provided Temporary Airbrush Tattoos for whoever wanted them and some very fun Interactive Walkaround Magic by Deano the Magic Man. The day started out with snow and then rain - can you belive it (well it is Calgary so anything goes as far as the weather) the races didn't start until 6pm by then the sun was shining the snow melted the rain stopped but it was still chilly for the participants who were in great spirits, there was 1244 racers / walkers who raised an amazing $850,000 in pledges (way to go).

Alberta Cancer Foundation’s The Underwear Affair
is a 10K Race & 5K Walk to uncover cures for cancers below the waist at the Alberta Cancer Foundation. It’s a refreshing, new approach to raise funds for cancers that would otherwise be taboo to discuss. These are the very diseases that have been labeled “unsexy” or “awkward” and have perhaps been less funded as such. Now is the time to erase those labels and give these cancers the awareness, research, and care they truly require. We are hosting pre-race and postrace activities of the event at the Calgary Stampede Roundup Centre on Saturday, June 6, 2009 in Calgary, Alberta. The pre-race activities include a participant registration area and race expo with interactive and entertaining vendor booths. The Underwear Affair will lift that taboo by offering a context in which the participants, donors, and partners will be able to discuss and raise money for cancers below the waist without feeling “awkward.” By making the event fun, sexy, and young, it will reach out to audiences who may not have ever fundraised before. In doing so, the Alberta Cancer Foundation will introduce Calgary to a new generation of fundraising, as well as increase awareness of cancers that often lack attention in the community.
“Underwear Cancers”
•prostate cancer
•colo-rectal cancer
•uterine cancer
•bladder cancer
•kidney caner
•cervical cancer
•ovarian cancer
•testicular cancer
EVENT ACTIVITIES
Underwear Affair EXPOsed
The Underwear Affair EXPOsed party includes the following elements of the event: participant registration, vendor booths, DJ music, event announcements, race results and the pre-race and post-race parties. We are offering vendors a complimentary booth in exchange for exhibiting the company and providing the participants with a sample of product or an opportunity to win a prize. In order for our booths to comply with the spirit of the event we are looking for vendors who are fun and interactive. The excitement of the Finish Line of the 5K Walk and 10K Run will help kick off the after-party. Vendor booths will remain open throughout the race and the party. The Underwear Affair is a fun atmosphere for all participants, while maintaining a focus on the primary reason for the event – creating awareness for cancers below the waist and raising funds for the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
10k Race and 5k Walk
The two races occur simultaneously with a similar route. The 10K Race will begin earlier than the 5K Walk to schedule all participants to arrive back for the post-party at approximately the same time. We want the public to take notice of more than 1240 people running and walking in their underwear and other costumes. This “spectacle” will help the community take notice and consider cancers below the waist. This event will help drive conversation about these cancers into the public domain.

Clown Fun Calgary May 21 - 24, 2009

Thursday May 21, 2009 was the kick off for the 2009 edition of Clown Fun - the largest Clown Convention in Canada - went from May 21 - 24, 2009. Lots of attendees, approx. 25% more Clowns attended than the previous year. The convention was held at Ambrose University College in Calgary, it really was a self contained convention in that they had the accommodations, the meals, the lectures, the dealers room it was all there. This years headliner wasn't even a Clown (go figure) it was a Magician, his name is Norm Barnhart aka The Amazing Normondo, he is an awfully nice guy, great lecturer, he is like the Energizer Bunny, keeps going and going, easily side tracked though but in a hilarious way, maybe it's part of his act. Edge Entertainment had a booth at the convention selling some Magic Tricks / Props, lots of people stopped by the booth - thank you to those who bought. The whole Convention was a huge success - next year it may go onto a Cruise Ship for the convention first time ever that would be great for everyone even the guests on the ship seeing all these Clowns, we'll see how the plans come together for that.

Brown Bagging for Calgary's Kids was established as a lunch program in 1990 under the name of the Brown Bagging for Calgary Street Kids Society. Following recent findings by the Feeding Calgary's Children Initiative - that almost 30,000 children and youth in Calgary go hungry while in school - the mandate has changed to include all children and youth, whether on the streets or in school.
BB4CK was created in partnership with the Calgary Board of Education to combat increasing numbers of youth attending Calgary schools without a lunch. We currently deliver over 1500 brown bag lunches to 60+ different schools daily.

Cambridge Bay, Nunavut - Omingmak Frolics Festival

---This was the second year for Edge Entertainment to provide Entertainment for the Frolics Festival (Omingmak means Musk Ox), it was a great experience as I got to take my son Nolan with me so he could experience first hand what I was talking about when I said I was performing up North - he did Temporary Airbrush Tattoos, I also brought a female Hypnotist with me - we weren't sure how this was going to play out with the elders but it turned out magnificently. As in Kugluktuk the kids were great, the adults are all gracious. The pictures are of a Inuit woman in her jacket that was all hand made (beautiful) - yes the fur is real wolverine, and some pictures of the kids.

Cambridge Bay (Inuinnaqtun: Iqaluktuuttiaq Inuktitut)
population 1,477
named for
Prince Adolphus, Duke of Cambridge, is a hamlet located in the Kitikmeot Region of Nunavut, Canada. The traditional Inuinnaqtun name for the area is Ikaluktuutiak (old orthography) or Iqaluktuttiaq (new orthography) meaning "good fishing place".
The traditional language of the area was Inuinnaqtun and is written using the
Latin alphabet rather than the syllabics of the Inuktitut writing system. Like Kugluktuk, Bathurst Inlet and Umingmaktok syllabics are rarely seen and used mainly by the Government of Nunavut.

Location
Located on the south coast of
Victoria Island Cambridge Bay is a transportation and administrative center for the western Kitikmeot Region. The population is approximately 80% Inuit. It is a normal stop for passenger and research vessels traversing the Northwest Passage.
The area was a traditional hunting and fishing location and archeological sites are often found.
Barren-ground caribou, muskox, Arctic char, lake trout and ringed seal were the primary and remain important food sources today. Situated east of Cambridge Bay is Ovayok Territorial Park.

History
Cambridge Bay was the site of Royal Canadian Mounted Police
(RCMP) and Hudson's Bay Company outposts established during the 1920s. Following World War II a LORAN tower was built near the previous location of Cambridge Bay and a Distant Early Warning Line site established in 1955. Unlike the majority of the DEW Line radar sites which were abandoned or automated, this site, known as CAM-MAIN, remains a manned operation as part of the North Warning System. The military presence and the services and economy this represented acted as a magnet for Inuit who had previously used the area as a temporary site for meeting, hunting, fishing and trade, and a permanent community was soon established.
The
Kitikmeot Inuit Association, Nunavut Impact Review Board, and Nunavut Planning Commission have their head offices in Cambridge Bay, as well as the Lands and Resources Department of Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated.
Cambridge Bay has northern historical significance. It is the final resting place of the
Baymaud captained by Roald Amundsen.

Radio
In addition to a
community radio station, Cambridge Bay is served by two CBC Radio One transmitters, rebroadcasting the stations from both Iqaluit and Inuvik, Northwest Territories.
FM 97.7 - CFBI, community radio
FM 101.9 -
CFFB-1, CBC Radio One
FM 105.1 -
CBIN, CBC Radio One

Television
Channel 9 -
CBENT, CBC North

Internet Services
QINIQ, Broadband Internet service provider for Nunavut Polarnet, Internet Service provider for the Kitikmeot region Netkaster, satellite Internet service provided by Northwestel

Deano The Magic Man's Doves Being Born

These doves that were born will be used in Deano The Magic Man's Magic Shows. They lay lots of eggs, probably 3-4 per week but very few eggs are viable, once they start to sit on the eggs and if it happens it is a short gestation period only a couple of weeks, they are born naked, eyes closed, mother and father lay on the babies to keep them warm, feed the babies, they grow really fast, they will start to get feathers the first week and double their size in no time at all.
